Council meeting

MACHYNLLETH Town Council will be holding its next ordinary monthly meeting at Plas Mach-ynlleth on Monday, 27 March, at 6.30pm. Details of the evening’s business will be placed on the council’s noticeboards in the Plas foyer and in front of the town library. Public and press are welcome to attend.

Carnival fundraiser

THERE will be an evening with Paul Dark and his alter ego Re-becca Riot on Saturday, 8 April, at Plas Machynlleth from 8.30pm until late.Entry by ticket (£10 per person) only, available from Y Plas and the Foresters. Dances of Universal Peace

DERWENLAS Village Hall, near Machynlleth, will be hosting Dances of Universal Peace classes on Friday, 17 March, at 8pm. Everyone is welcome.

Civic Society

THE Machynlleth and District Civic Society is holding its next bi-monthly executive committee at the Tabernacle, Heol Penrallt, on Thursday, 16 March, at 7pm.

Pool

CLINCHING A 10-5 victory at home to Llew Coch B on 2 March, leaders White Lion opened up a nine-point lead at the top of the Machynlleth and District Pool League division one to leave them needing only three points from their last three games, following Llew Coch A’s 9-6 defeat to visitors Dwynant, to claim the 2016/17 championship. Tredegar Arms strengthened third place with a decisive 11-4 home win over White Horse. Basement boys Llew Coch Dinas battled hard before losing 9-6 to visitors Rugby Club A.

Meanwhile, previous leaders Marston Skinners Arms lost 8-7 at home to fellow silverware rivals Foresters. White Lion Ladies boosted their chances, recording a 9-6 verdict at Wynnstay Arms. Penrhos won a thriller 8-7 at Red Lion Devils to move six points away from the wooden spoon spot.
