Council Meeting,/b>

MACHYNLLETH Town Council will be holding its next ordinary monthly meeting at Plas Machynlleth on Monday, 31 July, starting at 6.30pm.

Members of the public and press are welcome to attend.

Bowls

MACHYNLLETH put themselves back on track in no uncertain terms for a tilt at the title in division one of the Montgomeryshire County League thanks to a massive 67-shot victory at home to fellow-challengers Llanidloes on Thursday, 13 July.

Well and truly gaining the upper hand on all four rinks, Mach made sure of the maximum seven points to leave nothing for their opponents.

Meanwhile, albeit still without a win after seven starts in division two, Maglona’s improved play continued at Llanfair Caereinion (five points) as they picked up two points from this 16-shot defeat.

Machynlleth bowlers have made a firm start to retain the county mixed league championship with a 16-shot win over hosts Montgomery, taking a six points to one points split.

The Welsh Bowling Association Seniors County Championship will see Montgomeryshire CBA welcome West Glamorgan CBA to Llanidloes on 25 July.

Llynlloedd bowlers John Astley, Barry Fleming (res.), Alwyn Jones, Brendan Rogers and David Rowlands will join their county colleagues to ply their skills.

Planning

AT its meeting on 22 July, the county planning committee approved an application for residential development for two dwellings including formation of a vehicular access and associated works on land adjacent to Bwlch yr Laen, Dolfach, Llanbrynmair.

Book Club

THE London Train by Tessa Hadley will be the featured novel under discussion at the Tabernacle-based Machynlleth Book Club on Friday, 4 August.

The club meets in the Green Room at 2pm and, for a fee of £1, offers a warm welcome to all interested in literature.
