Ladies club
DR Jonathan Hughes, managing director of Pennotec at Y Ffôr spoke about his work of the past four years obtaining products from waste materials - biotechnology.
From crab shells they extract a fibre which has many uses such as in glucosamine tablets, hair products and diet tablets.
It has good antiseptic qualities and can take all the dirt out of water naturally, members heard.
Apple pomace can be used to replace certain high calorific ingredients such as margarine and enhance the fibre content of many different foods which could lead to healthier foods and drinks while maintaining the flavour.
Ceinwen from CAB is the speaker on 7 February, at 7.45pm for 8pm at the Nanhoren Hotel.
