Walkers

The New Quay Walkers chose the Llanarth area for their 22 September walk.

Nine hardy walkers accompanied by four dogs turned up outside the Llanina Arms for a six-and-a-half-mile walk, which was led by Gillian and Helen Morley.

Much of the walk was within woodland, which offered good shelter and thankfully the paths within the woods above Gilfachreda had been strimmed, making progress easy.

The route progressed down to the delightful hamlet of Dolau and on to Woodlands Caravan Park from where the path ran through Coed Perthneidr and beside the full-flowing Afon Llethi back to the start point.

All agreed that the walk had been a pleasure in the fresh air and the day finished with refreshments at the Llanina Arms.

Camera club

Thursday evening’s meeting at the memorial hall was an ‘in-house’ print and PDI competition, on the themes of ‘Yellow and Blue’ and an ‘open’ theme.

The images were judged and critiqued by professional photographer, guest judge, and past member, Andrew Warren, with very worthy winners in all categories.

The submissions were then discussed at length, as to where, why and how, they were created.

On Thursday, 27 September, members will join seven other clubs, in an 8-way, pdi ‘battle’, in Tenby. The next home meeting at the Memorial Hall, on 4 October at 7.30pm, will be a ‘discussion evening’ with favourite prints and PDIs brought in by members.

Church services

ON Sunday, 30 September - the fifth Sunday of the month - there is only one service in the New Quay and Llangrannog churches: 11.15am Holy Communion at New Quay Church.
