RNLI donation
A LORRY driver from Cross Inn has donated £400 to New Quay RNLI after raising money instead of receiving birthday gifts.
Steve Wolverson wanted to do something worthwhile for his 60th birthday.
Instead of receiving gifts, he asked for donations to go towards the local lifeboat station.
New Quay RNLI lifeboat operations manager Roger Couch said: “When Steve called the station and said he had wanted to buy something for the lifeboats with the money raised from his birthday, it was very good timing indeed as we needed a new battery and an emergency starter pack for our launching tractor.
“We were able to purchase these straightaway and are very grateful for the donation.
“We would like to thank Steve and his friends and family for their kind generosity.”
Camera ClubTHE Thursday evening meeting in the memorial hall took the form of an in-house, monochrome, print and Dpi competition, on the theme of ‘black and white’. Members submitted 21 prints and 34 Dpi’s to be judged, and critiqued by local photographer and past member, Aled Dafis, who’s own preferred medium is monochrome. From the many excellent submissions, worthy winners emerged in both categories. The results and details of which can be found on the website. With competitions being a platform for art and a reason to shoot images, the next meeting on Thursday, 7 February, at 7.30pm in the memorial hall will be another in-house, print and Dpi competition on an ‘open’ theme, to be judged by Dr Dyfed James from the Cardigan Photo Club.
