RNLI
ON SATURDAY, 2 July, at Aberaeron Harbour, New Quay RNLI, together with the Aberaeron Fundraising Group, were presented with a cheque for £2,500 by the Felinfach based company, Volac.
New Quay RNLI’s Roger Couch said: “We are extremely grateful for this generous donation by Volac as part of its support of the local community.
"As a charity with no government financial support, such donations are invaluable and will be used to help save lives at sea and raise awareness of sea safety standards.”

Walkers
SATURDAY, 9 July, offered a very unpromising start for walkers as heavy early morning rain teemed down and there were fleeting thoughts about cancellation.
However, this gave way to a misty, cloudy day with occasional light showers and 13 walkers with four dogs turned up at Alltwalis for a seven-mile circular walk and a visit to Skanda.
Skanda Vale is a Hindu and all faith ashram and monastery where 25 monks and nuns live with a variety of animals, including an elephant, deer, horses, donkeys and peacocks.
After climbing through woodland and walking along country lanes, the walkers arrived at Skanda Vale to discover that they had their annual colourful procession and special worship at the temples. The group joined the procession before enjoying lunch at the picnic site.
The walk was completed by ambling through muddy countryside before enjoying refreshment at the Ffostrasol Arms where they were entertained by two merry hen party groups.
The next walk, on Saturday, 13 August, is a seven-mile circular walk in the Llandysul area, meeting at the Woodland Trust car park in Coedfoel Woods at 10.30am.

Llanina Church
LLANINA Church’s annual summer festival, which starts next Tuesday, is bigger than ever this year.
The picturesque seaside churchyard near New Quay began holding regular Tuesday evening concerts in August three years ago and has held more events each year since.
Rev Matthew Baynham, priest in charge of Llanina, said: “The concerts have proved hugely popular. People love to come to spend a summer evening by the sea and listen to the amazingly talented artistes we have from New Quay and around Ceredigion.
“Each year, we’ve had a mixture of the spoken word, song and instrumental music and this year’s programme is the most diverse yet.
“Some of our performers are here for the first time, like AberOpera who open for us on Tuesday.
“Others have performed for us before: we’re delighted to welcome back outstanding local poet Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch with her accompanist Louise Broome, as well as the lovely Welsh traditional music of Elsa Davies and Ceri Owen Jones.
“We’ve two local choirs. Côr Cei, the New Quay community choir, are doing a sort of informal Singing Favourites concert.
“Meanwhile, at the heart of the series there’s a service with free admission, where the local chamber choir Côr Dulais, are going to lead us in a traditional Evensong. All the concerts are for charities: some local, some overseas.”
Full programme (all on Tuesday evenings; admission on the door): 26 July (7.30pm), AberOpera: Solos, Duets and Instrumental interludes; 2 August (7pm), Côr Cei: Singing Favourites; 9 August (7pm), Côr Dulais: Choral Evensong; 16 August (7pm), Elsa Davies and Ceri Owen Jones in concert; 23 August (7pm), Samantha Wynne Rhydderch and Louis Broome, Poems at the Piano.
