Walkers
THE Aberporth area was chosen for the walk on Saturday, 21 January, when 26 walkers and 10 dogs (pictured) met in Dolwen car park on a gloriously sunny day following overnight frost. The party made its way along the coast path to Tresaith, enjoying the clear coastal views towards Aberystwyth before doubling back past Dyffryn Farm and taking the path inland past Parcllwyd to reach the Poet’s Walk. The Poets Walk, well worth a visit, is a memorial to the well respected late Dic Jones, local Welsh language poet and broadcaster. After lunch, the walk became an easy downhill ramble through field paths and woodland to Rhiw Rofft and on to Aberporth for refreshments at the Ship. Next walk, Saturday, 18 February, walk around the outskirts of Aberystwyth and scenic heights above the town, details from Glyn on 01545 561285.

Cross Inn WI
THE first meeting of 2017 got off to a very good start when Anthea Lister came, at very short notice, to give her fascinating talk on Panteg Farm where she lived for many years. The members were all enthralled by her tale of tracking down the history and inhabitants of the house through records held at the National Library and the old photographs which showed the house changing over the years from the mid-1800s to the present day. Some were almost tempted to investigate their own property’s history. Following this there was an animated discussion of the resolutions to be taken forward to the AGM and a few members aired their views until a show of hands voted in the resolution of the choice. Finally a supper rounded the evening off and everyone went home feeling slightly too replete.
