Fireworks Display

THE New Quay fireworks evening goes ahead on Saturday, 4 November, at 7pm.

Some doubts over its future were dispelled when a group of local community-minded people came forward, with the assistance of the RNLI crew, to organise and run the event.

This is a “don’t miss” affair when early arrival at the Quay is recommended to get a good view during what promises to be a very crowded evening and an amazing display.

The generous public donations at the gates are enabling organisers to put on a more spectacular display year on year and this year promises to be the best ever. Roads in the vicinity will be closed to traffic between 5pm and 8.30pm but pedestrian access is open for this delightful family and community event.

Camera Club

THE first event of a very busy Thursday evening’s meeting, was an in-house ‘Projected Digital Image’ Competition, entitled ‘Art In Nature’ for which each member had submitted three digital images.

Ian Ledgard, from Towy Camera Club, was the judge for the evening, and although illness prevented him from attending, had sent, to the chairman, a critique and a score, out of ten, for each of the images.

Members had also submitted digital images, for a national ‘Pixels’ competition, from which four images, from four different photographers, were chosen to represent the club.

Finally, prints were also submitted for a Five Way, print battle, hosted by the Cardiff Camera club, at Cardigan Castle, on Wednesday, 18 October, for which 10 prints are to be chosen, by committee, to represent New Quay, and are to be judged by Chris Warren.

Next meeting, on 19 October, at the Memorial Hall, at 7.30pm, will be ‘An evening with member Morlais Davies’.
