THE latest community news from Newcastle Emlyn
U3A
WOW! What an entertaining and energetic speaker they had in November.
Rodney Webb kept them all enthralled with his talk, Stepdance to Survive.
It was based on his families connections to stepdancing and how it had helped them on five separate occasions to survive.
He gave demonstrations and illustrated his talk with music and slides.
His interest in Stepdancing all began when he looked into his family history and discovered that his grandfather was the Norfolk Step Dancer.
Unfortunately pictures of his demonstration were not easy to get in focus.
The next meeting is on Wednesday, 6 December, and will be some in-house entertainment followed by a Christmas buffet provided by the members.
Following that, in the afternoon they will be having a stall at the Newcastle Emlyn Victorian night giving out popcorn and information about the U3A.
You will be able to find them outside the Tivy Hall, so go and say hello.
January’s meeting will be on Wednesday, 3 January and will be one of their own members talking about Butch Cassidy and the Welsh Immigrants to Patagonia.
Meetings usually take place on the first Wednesday of the month at 10.30am for 11am at the Community Hall, Church Lane, and usually finish about 12.15pm.
The U3A is for retired and semi-retired people who want to live, laugh and learn together.
Various groups meet during the month including astronomy, strolling, craft, French, German, games, wine appreciation and luncheon club.
The subscription for 2017-2018 is £14, but the first meeting is free.
