THE latest community news from Newcastle Emlyn

U3A

IN March, Liz Evans from the Welsh Hearts Charity came to speak about the charity and also to give some training in CPR and using the defibrillators that they are positioning in lots of places in Wales.

She made the talk really interesting and easy to listen to and all felt that they would be able to have a go if someone collapsed and was unresponsive.

They have also booked some first aid training with the Red Cross to study ways to deal with trips, slips and falls.

It is open initially to members as numbers are limited but if anyone is interested contact Hazel Towle on 01559 371842 to see if there are spare spaces.

This will take place on Wednesday, 11 April, from 11am – 1pm at the community hall.

The next monthly meeting is on Wednesday, 4 April, when the speaker will be Mark Cole from Dyfed Shire Horse Farm, near Eglwyswrw. Unfortunately they don’t think he is bringing a horse!

Newcastle Emlyn U3A is also very pleased to announce that they have been awarded a grant from National Lottery Awards for All in order to provide a more up to date projector and sound system.

This will benefit all members and they are very grateful to the National Lottery scheme.

Monthly meetings usually take place on the first Wednesday of the month at 10.30am for 11am at the community hall, and usually finishes about 12.15pm.

The U3A is for retired and semi-retired people who want to live, laugh and learn together.

Various groups meet during the month including astronomy, strolling, craft, French, games, wine appreciation and luncheon club.
