Forum award

THE Penparcau Community Forum has received further recognition by winning the The Welsh Council for Voluntary Action WCVA Regional Volunteer of the Year Award in the Group category.

This means that they are automatically shortlisted in the National Award, to be announced at the WCVA Awards 2018 on the evening of 13 June in Cardiff.

Bryn Jones, co-ordinator at Penparcau Community Forum’s Yr Hwb community centre, said: “It’s great for our volunteers and the forum to be recognised in this way. All their hard work and commitment has been an enormous part of why we have been able to progress as far as we have in such a short time.”

Penparcau Community Forum has previously received an award from the WCVA in recognition of their work towards building a safe, vibrant and inclusive community.

Carnival in the Park

PENPARCAU is set to celebrate on 30 June when Penparcau Community Forum holds its 2018 Carnival in the Park at Yr Hwb.

Penparcau Carnival in the Park promises plenty of fun for everyone with over 30 stalls, fancy dress, live music and dance, ice cream, bouncy castle, Catch the Rat and much more.

The event is a ‘Walking Carnival’ with a procession around the village, beginning and ending at Yr Hwb.

The whole day will be presided over by Queen Sky and King Calum and their attendants.

All were chosen at a carnival disco held at Yr Hwb last month.

Thanking everyone for their support, volunteer and events organiser Julie Thomas, said: “Does anyone have any brightly coloured curtains or material they would like to donate?”

Yr Hwb co-ordinator Bryn Jones said: “It’s tremendous the amount of support we have received from individuals and organisations alike. It promises to be a great day out and we would like as many people as possible to come along and join us as we celebrate the vibrant community here in Penparcau.”
