Senior Citizens Club

THE second meeting of the year of the Penparcau Senior Citizens club took place at Neuadd Goffa, on Tuesday, 23 January, following the Annual General Meeting on 9 January.

The first meeting the chair person was re-elected and new vice chair, treasurer and secretary were appointed.

There were 25 members present with several apologies.

The members were entertained by a group of harpists known as Bryn Gwyn Harpers who were retired from their profession and taken up the queen of instruments under their tutor Eleri Turner.

They played a variety of tunes inspired by each of the five players and their tutor in turn spoke briefly about themselves and their reasons for taking up the harp.

The members were delighted with their performance which was the first public appearance by the group.

There followed a first class tea in traditional style prepared by the members.

A vote of thanks was proposed by Caroline Jones.

This is hoped to be the first of many exciting meetings and outings scheduled for the coming year.

The next meeting will be on 6 February.
