Evening WI
The annual general meeting of the evening WI was held on Tuesday, 7 November. The president Elinor Rhys Williams welcomed the members and also gave a warm welcome to Margaret Lloyd Jones, Aberarch, who was present as the county advisor to oversee the proceedings.
The president thanked all members for their attendance and support, which had ensured another successful and enjoyable year.
A report of the year’s activities was presented by the secretary Dilys Williams and a healthy balance sheet was presented by Daphne Jones, in the absence of the treasurer Sandra Jones (due to ill health).
Under the supervision of Mrs Lloyd Jones, the officers and committee for the coming year were elected as follows – president, Daphne Jones; vice presidents, Sian Evans and Margaret Roberts; secretary, Dilys Williams; treasurer, Maureen Jones; assistant treasurers, Janet Owen and Lydia Jones; press officers, Sylvia Williams and Sandra Jones; programme co-ordinators, Maureen Jones and Janet Owen; social secretaries, Helen Owen and Sylvia Williams; committee members, all officers named above plus Eryl Lobely and Joyce Griffith.
The vote of thanks was given by Joyce Griffith.
The tea hostesses were Margaret Roberts and Sylvia Williams. The raffle prize was given by Ann Owen and won by Betty Coles.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, 5 December, at 7pm at the Ala Road Chapel Vestry when a flower arranging demonstration will be given by Doris Cullen. New members always welcome.

Yn 1945 dim ond chwech o lyfrau i blant a gyhoeddwyd o’i gymharu â’r cannoedd a gyhoeddir heddiw.
Yn ogystal â’r cyfraniad i iaith a diwylliant, y mae’r byd cyhoeddi bellach yn ddiwydiant yn cyfrannu i economi Cymru.
