Clwb Cerdded /Walking Club

THE next walk is scheduled for 10 August and has been organised by Ian Tillotson 01974 298329 and Catrin Hopkins.

The walk is called ‘Discover Water – A Circuit of Caban Coch Reservoir’.

From the Elan Valley Visitor Centre, they head for the Caban Coch Reservoir and follow its eastern shore, passing the ‘Dambuster’ dam.

An ascent takes them to T?’n y Pant and to fine views of the lake.

Descending into woodland, they follow the track past Llanerch Cawr, to the Dôl y Mynach dam.

Another woodland trail will guide them to the Garreg Ddu dam, pat the Caban Quarry, and return to the visitor centre.

A visit to the interior of the Pen y Garreg dam may be possible.

The walk is to last approximately four hours and is graded an easy walk over a distance of seven miles, with an ascent of 520ft/160m. Meet outside Y Talbot, at 9.30am.
