Walking Club

THE next walk is scheduled for 6 May and is called ‘Big Welsh Walk’.

The legendary TV character that is DCI Mathias is the inspiration for #BigWelshWalk #HinterlandChallenge.

Ramblers Cymru are organising the #BigWelshWalk this year and it will make the most of the legendary status of DCI Mathias and the award winning S4C/BBC Wales detective series Y Gwyll/Hinterland.

Three routes are available and walkers will navigate around these routes and supported by marshals at certain points.

Walkers will be treated to the magnificent landscape of the Devil’s Bridge area, now made famous by the TV series.

Don’t forget to catch-up on the legend of Devil’s Bridge too.

The challenge and self-guided walks are graded an easy to hard walk which covers five, 10 and 20 miles. For more details contact [email protected]

LUNCH at Y Talbot on 26 April was attended by 40 members.

The entertainment was given by John Glant Griffiths.

John sang three songs and told the story of his life growing up on a small holding near Llangeitho.

The winners of the teapot competition were Augusta Humphreys, Pat Jones and Eleanor Evans.

Next month’s lunch will be in the Bowls Club with Eirwen James providing the entertainment.

In June, the annual trip will be to Bala and in July the group is going to the Feathers in Aberaeron for lunch. Contact Delyth if you would like to attend these.

WI

THEY were delighted to welcome members of Llanddewi Brefi WI to the April meeting when the speaker was Will Griffiths, who had been keeping bees for the last 58 years. The evening was not only entertaining, but was also educational. Many of them learned so much about the honey bee and its importance to the environment.

The refreshments were honey based cakes, biscuits, brownies and even pate – all appetising and delicious and the competition was ‘an item connected to bees’.

The next meeting will be held in the Memorial Hall on Wednesday, 10 May at 7.30pm. Anne Straker will be talking to us about ‘Quilling’.
