THE annual shopping trip to Trostre on Thursday, 16 November, was joined by 26 people.

Although poor in Tregaron, the weather cleared in time for everyone to enjoy their visit and the meal at Lloyd’s in Lampeter on the way home.

There were 35 members at the lunch on Wednesday, 22 November, at Y Talbot, where a roast pork dinner was enjoyed before Donald Morgan provided the entertainment. He did three beautiful flower arrangements which were raffled at the end of the afternoon.

On Wednesday, 6 December, a coach will leave the square at 1.30pm for a visit to see the annual festival displays in Ysbyty Cynfyn Church. Tea will be provided before the return at 4pm.

The Christmas lunch will be at Y Talbot on Wednesday, 13 December. Contact Delyth if you would like to attend.

THE next walk is scheduled for 9 December and is organised by Avarinah Davies (01974 298259).

This is the walk about the Legend of the Elephant Tregaron.

Tregaron has many myths and legends. This certainly is one of the main legends that surrounds the town.

In 1848 a circus visited the town and with it an elephant of the story is recorded in the media of the time.

The walk itself starts at the location where the elephant was given the fateful trunkful of water.

The walk starts from outside Y Talbot at 10am and is to last approximately four hours. It is graded a moderate walk with an ascent of 650ft/200m.
