Ysgol Penbryn

THE school celebrated the 100th birthday of one of Wales’ most phizz-whizzing authors.

On Tuesday, 13 September, pupils dressed up in tribute to wacky writer Roald Dahl’s cherished childhood characters.

Brother and sister Cameron and Alison Rowlands dressed as Danny Champion of the World and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’s Veruca Salt (after she was labelled a ‘bad but’ and flushed down a garbage chute). They were joined by their Oompa Loompa friend Lili-Mei.

South Meirionnydd Older Peoples Forum

THE next meeting of the South Meirionnydd Older People’s Forum will take place at Neuadd Pendre, Tywyn, on Wednesday, 28 September.

The group has a full agenda with many interesting topics to discuss and the meeting is open to all people over 50.

The speaker for the month is Rhydian Mason who will be speaking on the railway services in area and will surely be willing to answer a few questions .

The speaker for our October meeting will be Mandy Evans, of Griffiths, the company responsible for the Dyfi Bridge, who will give us an update on the future plans.

Craft fair

AN AUTUMN craft fair is coming to Tywyn next month.

On Saturday, 1 October, a vast array of homemade goods and trinkets will be on sale in Tywyn’s Scout Hut between 9.30am and 2.30pm.

All money raised will be put towards hiring a hall where a group of local activists will be hosting a concert to raise money for Elisha Carter, a local teenager suffering with cancer.
