THE latest community news from Tywyn.
Senior Citizens
ON Wednesday, 8 March, the Neuadd Pendre Senior Citizens had the pleasure of welcoming students from Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor (pictured) to undertake the preparation and cooking of a three course meal on the premises for 56 senior citizens. The lunch is a monthly event and diners were treated to a fantastic meal. The event was supported by the local Co-operative store, the store manager and her staff with the supply of most of the food for the event, as has been the case since the event started. The sentiment expressed by all who attended was “what a fantas-tic afternoon they shared with the students”. The professionalism of the students and for people of such a young age was first class and gives great credit to all concerned.Judging by their attitude during the afternoon the experience gained by the students will stand them in good stead as they move on to prepare for the future in their chosen field of employment. Hopefully Tywyn will, in the future, once again have the pleasure of welcoming another group of students and they too will gain the same great experience as those before them have received. Thanks also went to Mair Eleri Jones for all the hard work she put in with the preparation and organising of the day’s proceedings. Through her hard work the students will have surely learnt so much.

Older People’s Forum
AT the meeting on Wednesday 23 February the guest speaker was Stuart Harmes of the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board, who was making a return visit as promised last October.Stuart gave a very interesting update on the health board. He remarked that he had done many such meetings throughout north Wales and that the forum had the best attendance he had encountered (in excess of 50).Stuart took questions on various issues and kindly offered to attend again in June, when he would be accompanied by two colleagues.Stuart was given the usual vote of thanks by the members who appreciated his contribution. The next meeting of the forum will take place on Wednesday, 29 March at 2pm for 2.30pm at the Neuadd Pendre, 4 Brook St.The guest speaker will be ex-councillor Henry Jones who will talk about his vast experience as a senior police officer.
