New Post Office

HAPPY customers gathered at Tywyn’s new post office last week to give it their stamp of approval.

On Wednesday, 19 April, Tywyn Post Office and Central Stores opened its doors to patrons with plenty of visitors stopping by to see what was on offer.

A spokesperson for Love Tywyn, a social media account covering events in the town, said: “We are so lucky to have this as many have closed. Thank you to all involved in relocating the post office.”

Garden Club

TYWYN Garden Club held an open meeting on 11 April, where Philip Aubrey, a former director of Birmingham Botanical Gardens, spoke to an enthusiastic group of gardeners about Propagation.

He discussed and demonstrated the several methods of taking cuttings. It was remarkable how many plants could be produced by,for example, leaf cuttings. He also discussed the best medium in which to sow different types of seed and best practice for watering and hormone rooting powder use.

As Jean Westermann said, in giving the vote of thanks, whilst we might be experienced gardeners we had nevertheless all learned a lot and picked up many useful tips.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, 9 May at 7.30pm and will be the AGM and will include a buffet to close the season which will resume in October.

During the interim our Annual Trip will be to Wightwick Manor and we are also organising small local trips for members.

Hearing Aid

TYWYN Baptist Church, (High Street) is the venue for the next ‘Walk-in’ session of the Hearing Aid Service on Thursday, 4 May. If you consider your hearing aid requires a service, new batteries or new tubing, come along between 10am and noon. No appointment is necessary. Voting is taking place in the same building.
