THE last meeting took place on Monday, 5 November, in the community hall.
There was an excellent turnout of members to participate in the annual general meeting.
All were welcomed by the president, Jean Eklund, who began the evening undertaking a review of the previous meeting when they welcomed Hugh Parry ‘The Prince of Shellac’.
All members received their copies of the Ceredigion County Newsletter and the secretary pointed out those county events for which names needed to be put forward, adding that there were a number of interesting events in the county leading up to the festive season.
The county advisor, Gay Evans, then took the chair to guide members through the AGM.
Reports were received from the president, Jean Eklund, who reported on a successful and varied year which had welcomed a number of new members; the secretary, Sue Wildig highlighted county events which members had attended and saw the Institutes increasing involvement in these as a very positive step forward; and the treasurer Pip Chisholm presented the accounts for the year.
Gay Evans said that, with the finances being sound, they can look forward to planning the programme for 2019 with confidence.
Election of the committee then followed, and with Jean, who has served as our president since 2013, standing down, the president was the only post which needed to be filled.
Nominations were sought, names put forward, and one of the newest members Caroline Hotchkiss, was appointed president with another new member, Suzy Glennister, as her deputy.
The next meeting will be on Monday, 3 December, at 7pm in the hall when Enid Walsh will be talking about the work of the Jubilee Food Bank.
