Madam,

How sad it is to see objections to the proposed new social housing in Pier Road, Tywyn (Social housing plan is not in keeping with our neighbourhood, last week's letters).

I note that the flats are for the disabled and the over-55s - hardly the folks who are going to rampage around the town.

At the moment we have a closed-down health centre which is an eyesore. The size of the flats will be nothing in comparison to the many three-storey buildings all around the town, many of which make the church look tiny. The flats and houses will have their own parking and they will not be able to generate enough cars to have anything like the same impact on the roads that the traffic from the health centre did when it was open.

As to the fact that Talyllyn Drive has a blind bend in it, indeed it does. Residents park on the said blind bend most of the time. Perhaps a request for double yellow lines would be a good idea in order that an accident may be avoided.

It would be nice if a little compassion was shown as to the need of people to have homes.

It is hardly a tower block. Could this be nimbys complaining?

Yours etc,
