Madam,

Once again it is that time of year when the burgeoning cost of council tax raises its insatiable head and there is the decision on how much more blood the executive can wring from an already desiccated populace.

How do we, the residents, the tax payers, benefit from the behemoth known as ‘The Council’. I have been obliged to complain on three occasions in the last six months to the Highways Department concerning the lack of maintenance to the hedgerows and indeed the road itself in Cnwc y Lili, New Quay.

It appears that my complaints are disregarded. Despite three attempts my complaints obviously end up in the ‘too difficult to do’ drawer. I have ascertained that the Highways Department has installed a new system in the last six month.

Clearly it was essential expenditure and money well spent, though it does not seem to be fit for purpose. I was advised that my complaint would be forwarded to the ‘technical department’. Hedge trimming, technical? I have yet again recorded my complaint, but am now at a loss who to complain to formally.

Yours etc, Allan Phillips, New Quay.
