St Peter’s Church in Aberdyfi will receive £360 thanks to a concert organised to raise money for it.
The concert took place during the summer with local music act Duo Sereniti and friends performing at the church. Soprano Holly Morris and Leigh Matthews, classical guitar, formed Duo Sereniti last year.
Performing bespoke arrangements of well-chosen songs, Holly and Leigh enjoy sharing their love of a variety of music to wide ranging audiences.
With this in mind they collaborated with members of St Peter's Church committee to organise this fundraising concert and they were aided in their quest by several fellow musicians, some of whom work alongside Holly and Leigh at Totaleigh Music in Tywyn.
On Friday, 21 August, Duo Sereniti and friends presented the evening of classical greats, jazz standards and contemporary classics featuring woodwind, brass, strings and vocal music across the genres and throughout the ages. The concert was attended and enjoyed by members of the local community. The musicians were all kind enough to volunteer their time for free for this worthy cause and as a result, the event raised £360 for St Peter's Church.
Leigh and Holly thanked all their fellow performers and St Peter's Church for their hospitality and commented on how the church is such a lovely venue for concerts and special events.
