A Llanon contractor who claims to have been the victim of ‘footpath rage’ says that ‘harassment’ from ‘a small minority’ in the community has led him to seek police protection.
Meurig Lloyd says he is having to endure ‘ongoing provocation’ while strimming rights-of-way around the village on behalf of Llansantffraed Community Council.
“I’m trying to do my best for the community but it seems that a small minority don’t want the footpaths kept open,” Mr Lloyd told the Cambrian News.
“Things have become so bad that I have to ring police every time I start work – it just beggars belief.
“Nobody can understand what’s going on, but although I get nothing but positive feedback from most of the villagers the truth of the matter is that a couple think they can take the law into their own hands.”
Mr Lloyd says he has been subjected to physical as well as verbal abuse.
“I’ve had threats of violence, derogatory remarks and profanities aimed at me,” he added.
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said: “Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a common assault during a verbal dispute in the Llansantffraed area on Friday, 10 May. Enquiries are ongoing into this matter.”
