THE 50th anniversary since the start of a cult TV series filmed at Portmeirion is being celebrated this weekend.
2017 sees a double celebration as The Prisoner Appreciation Society (Six of One) is now 40 years old and The Prisoner is celebrating its first broadcast in September 1967.
The series follows the adventures of a British former secret agent who is abducted and held prisoner in a mysterious coastal village resort, where his captors try and extract vital information from him.
The event, running from 31 March to 2 April, is a member’s only affair but there will be plenty of activities outside of the village for casual fans to come and participate in.
Debs McDougall, a spokesperson for Six of One, explained how they planned to mark the historic occasion.
“Our special guest this year is the actor Christopher Benjamin, who featured in three episodes of The Prisoner, Arrival, Chimes of Big Ben and The Girl who was Death, as well as appearing with Patrick McGoohan in the last Danger Man series,” she said.
