A COUNTRY weekend in Pwllheli has raised over £1,000 for local charities.
Sheila Jones, one of the main organisers of the annual Pwllheli Country Weekend, had the task of presenting this year’s proceeds.
This year’s event was the organisers’ third year of arranging this popular weekend; the last two year’s events were held successfully at the Pwllheli Golf Club, who donate the use of the building and facilities to the fundraisers.
The acts that took part in this year’s event were Jonathan Davies, Gwyn a Nan, Phil Gas a’r Band, Tudur Wyn, Dafydd a Lisa and Glyn Owens.
Also during the two evenings raffles were sold and an auction was held, which helped to reach a total of £1,100 raised, which was split between two charities.
The chosen charities this year were Wales Air Ambulance and Bryn Beryl Hospital and each received a cheque for £550.
Preparations for next year’s country weekend, which will once again be staged at the Pwllheli Golf Club, are progressing well with two very popular acts already booked in, John ac Alun and Y Moniars and Tudur Wyn.
The charities that will benefit next year will be Wales Air Ambulance and the Children’s Ward at Ysbyty Gwynedd.
