A LLANON woman has been banned from driving for 26 months after being caught behind the wheel of a car while more than three times the legal limit.
Aberystwyth Magistrates Court heard on Wednesday that 44-year-old Anita Kinlin was “out with friends” in Aberystwyth when she decided to move her car from where it was parked on North Parade, to the parking bays of Thespian Street.
The court heard that Kinlin, of White Mead, had previously had a car vandalised while parked on North Parade and wanted to move it.
At around 7pm, while trying to park the car, she hit a Mitsubishi, and the owner of the car followed her after she tried to walk away.
The incident was reported to police and Kinlin was found several minutes later by an officer entering an Aberystwyth house.
When breathalysed, she was found to have 115mcgs of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.
Initially Kinlin denied to police she had been driving the car, but pleaded guilty to the charge at court.
Defence solicitor Alun Lewis told the court: “She had not intended to drive, she was just parking up.
“She is ashamed and devastated that this has happened.”
Kinlin was disqualified from driving for 26 months and made the subject of a 12-month community order.
She will undertake 40 hours of unpaid work. She has also been ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a surcharge of £85.
