A Newcastle Emlyn motorist who was stopped during a routine traffic check was found to have levels of cannabis in his system above the specified limit.
Sebastion Turner, of Flat 1, Lite Bite, Sycamore Street, pleaded guilty to drug-driving and possession of cannabis found in the car.
Kevin Challinor, prosecuting, said Turner was stopped by a police officer for a routine check just before 7pm on Saturday, 6 July, but when the officer spoke to Turner, 24, they noticed the smell of cannabis.
Turner then failed a drug swipe test, with a blood test showing that he had levels of cannabis derivative delta-9-tetrahydrocannibol above the specified limit.
Mr Challinor said that a search of his car found two bags of cannabis totalling 27 grammes.
Defending Turner, Janem Jones said there had been no concerns about Turner’s driving, but that he was routinely stopped.
She said that Turner was found to be just over the level of the drug, but the defendant accepted he had a problem with cannabis and had self-referred to a drug agency as he wants to “kick the habit”.
Ms Jones added that a driving ban would be inconvenient for Turner and his family.
Turner was banned from driving for 12 months.
He was also fined £230 and will pay costs totalling £117.
