A cleaner has been awarded nearly £12,000 in compensation from her former employers, Machynlleth Town Council, for unfair dismissal.
Pamela Wynn Newcombe was employed as a cleaner for Machynlleth Town Council from May 2013, but resigned in June 2019.
At an employment tribunal held via video link last month, Judge R Powell ruled that Mrs Newcombe had been unfairly dismissed.
Mrs Newcombe claimed she went “through hell”.
She said: “The tribunal proves that I was well within my rights as an employee to claim constructive unfair dismissal. I was told that this particular circumstance was very difficult to prove.
“After two days of tribunal proceedings Judge Powell in Cardiff found in my favour.
“The details of the breaches of policy were all highlighted in the judgement statement.”
Mrs Newcombe claims the issues with Machynlleth Town Council began in November 2017.
After the judge ruled that Mrs Newcombe had been unfairly dismissed, the town council was ordered to pay her a total of £11,606.
This was made up of a basic award sum of £1,701, compensation of £500 for the loss of statutory rights, and compensation of £9,405 for the net loss of earnings.
A spokesperson for Machynlleth Town Council said: “Machynlleth Town Council accepts the court’s decision.
“The council will learn from its historical actions and move on.”
