FIVE men have admitted their part in a late-night attack on an Aberystwyth student that left him in a coma for four weeks.

At Swansea Crown Court this morning, Billy Valentine, 19, of the flat, Vale of Rheidol, Terrace Road, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.Michael Jones, 24, of Waunwen Farm, Llanfair Clydogau; David Lloyd, 25, no fixed address; Lee Andersen-Warnes, 20, of Min-y-Dre, Newcastle Emlyn and Andrew Scott, 23, of Dolwyre, Llangwyryfon, pleaded guilty to violent disorder.Ifan Owens, 20, from Cardiff, was attacked and found unconscious on High Street, Aberystwyth, on 14 January.Mr Owens, a second-year criminology student at Aberystwyth University, was initially taken to Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth, but was later transferred to Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales.The five will be sentenced on Wednesday, 8 August.
