A CLYNNOG Fawr man was left needing stitches after an attempted robbery on a convenience store was scuppered.
Judge Rhys Rowlands commended the courage of those who sent two masked raiders away empty handed from the convenience store at Pensarn, Abergele, last November.
Michael Ryan, 24, of Clynnog fawr and Michael Bowes, 23, of Brighton Road, Rhyl, were each jailed for 25 months after pleading guilty to attempted robbery.
Ryan needed three stitches after being struck on the head with a stick by shop owner Urvi Patel.
The judge at Caernarfon crown court heard that the pair had thought just one person would be in the shop at night, but the owner and his wife and an assistant were present.
Both men had previous convictions for robbery.
