A LLANBADARN Fawr man has been remanded in custody on a charge of arson with intent to endanger life at Aberystwyth’s Ty Belgrave House hotel.

Damion Harris, 30, of Llwyn On, Pwllhobi, appeared in Aberystwyth Magistrates Court this morning and has been remanded to Swansea Crown Court, with a hearing scheduled for 24 August.

Fire tore through Ty Belgrave House on Marine Terrace in the early hours of last Wednesday morning, with fire crews having to rescue nine adults and three children and leaving the building structurally unsafe.

One guest is still missing following the fire and police are working with the Lithuanian Embassy as they try to track the missing man’s next of kin.

Harris was remanded in custody until the hearing, with no bail application made by the defence.
