A MAN has appeared in court accused of sexual activity with a child at Machynlleth railway station.

Mark Brian Anthony Owen, aged 47, is said to have kissed and hugged the girl, who was under 16, and that it is alleged his behaviour was caught on CCTV cameras.

On Monday, Owen appeared before Judge Keith Thomas at Swansea Crown Court accused of six offences.

Owen, of no fixed address, is charged with inciting a girl under 16 to engage in sexual activity on three separate days last year.

Owen is also charged with sexual activity with the girl at the railway station, and, on the same occasion, breaching a sexual offences prevention order by being in the company of a girl aged under 16 while another adult was not present.

Owen is further charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice by contacting the girl and asking her to retract the complaints she had made to police.

Owen entered pleas of not guilty to all the charges. Judge Thomas said a three-day trial would begin on 30 August and Owen was further remanded in custody meanwhile.
