Police have arrested a man in connection with a string of burglaries in the Aberystwyth area.

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed this afternoon that a 31-year-old man from the Gwent area had been arrested on suspicion of burglary and later released under investigation.

The arrest is in connection with a number of burglaries in Clarach, Bow Street and Ponterwyd where equipment and vehicles worth tens of thousands of pounds were taken from a number of businesses.

In a statement, police said: “Police, investigating a number of burglaries in the Clarach, Bow Street and Ponterwyd areas, have made an arrest.

“A 31-year-old male from the Gwent area has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and later released under investigation.

“Some property, stolen during the burglaries, has also been recovered.

“The investigation is ongoing and police would like to speak to anyone with information or who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the areas mentioned.”

The burglaries all took place overnight on 17 November, with four businesses in Clarach, two in Bow Street and one in Ponterwyd being targeted.

Exley Motors, Gary’s Bargains, Swansons Conversions and Graham’s Vehicle Repairs on Nantllan Business Park in Clarach all had items stolen.

Brynsiriol Garage in Bow Street had two cars taken from its forecourt and Rogers and Taylor, an agricultural merchant in the same village, had items stolen.

Loadrated in Ponterwyd also had a VW Crafter van taken the same night.
