A BARMOUTH man who admitted breaching a court order preventing him from having contact with children has been given a suspended jail sentence.

In April, Daniel Coomes was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order at Caernarfon Magistrates Court, and one of the conditions was that he should not have unsupervised contact with anyone under 18.

But Sheyanne Lee, prosecuting at Llandudno court, said that when police officers visited his flat in High Street, Barmouth, on July 7 they found a 17-year-old girl there.

Coomes, 20, admitted the breach and District Judge Gwyn Jones said it was a “flagrant disregard of the court order”.

He said that an immediate custodial sentence was justified but because Coomes had been engaging with the probation service and taking steps to try to overcome his issues the 26-week sentence would be suspended for 12 months.

Coomes was made subject to a 7pm–5am curfew for 16 weeks and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.
