A man who scaled a roof of an Aberystwyth property after police turned up to reports of a domestic altercation has been found guilty of intentional strangulation, assault and criminal damage.

Alex Smith, now of no fixed abode, appeared before Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court for trial on 16 September.

Smith initially pleaded not guilty in July to the assault and intentional strangulation of a woman as well criminal damage of various household items during the incident at Upper Queen’s Road on 29 July.

He was found guilty of all three offences following the trial.

Smith will be sentenced for his crimes at Swansea Crown Court on 1 October.

He was remanded in custody by magistrates until that sentencing date.
