AN ABERYSTWYTH man has been remanded in custody after appearing in magistrates’ court, accused of robbing an Aberystwyth convenience store with a knife.
Lee Michael Southan, 30, appeared before Aberystwyth magistrates charged with robbery of the Premier Store in Northgate Street on Easter Sunday, as well as possession of an offensive weapon. No pleas were entered.
Magistrates heard that the robbery charge must be heard in crown court and accepted an application from prosecutor Kevin Challinor that the offensive weapon charge should also be sent to crown court.
Southan, of 1 Epworth Terrace, was not represented by a solicitor and did not oppose an application that he should be remanded in custody.
He will now appear for a preliminary hearing at Swansea Crown Court on Friday, 29 April.
