A LAMPETER man threatened to “smash” a pub manager and damaged his neighbour’s flat door thinking it was his own, magistrates have heard.
Stewart Clive Evan Edwards, of Flat 1, Bryngwyn in North Road, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct toward Mina Kaki at the Black Lion Hotel on 30 January and to criminal damage to the door of his neighbour’s flat on 4 February.
Prosecutor Kevin Challinor said 34-year-old Edwards had gone into the Black Lion on 30 January, despite being banned. He then started shouting at Mr Kaki about his ban before threatening to “smash” him.
When Mr Kaki said he was going to call the police, Edwards said: “Call the police you p***y” before telling him to “f*** off” several times.
Mr Challinor said the criminal damage occurred at around midnight on 4 February when Edwards’ neighbour John Bunn heard loud banging on his flat door and Edwards shouting.
Mr Bunn went to the door and shouted “stop it”, but then heard another louder bang and saw that the lock and doorframe had been damaged with Edwards believed to have hit it with a fire extinguisher.
Defence solicitor Alison Mathias said Edwards had gone to the Black Lion as he had been told by staff to go in to discuss his ban. Ms Mathias said Edwards had gone in to the pub to discuss the situation around nine times, but felt he had been “fobbed off”.
She said when he went in on 30 January, he had been drinking and become angry as he had still not been given a straight answer, but accepted that his behaviour was inappropriate.
Ms Mathias said the damage to Mr Bunn’s flat door was as Edwards had been locked out of his flat by his girlfriend at the time and had been drinking.
When he returned home and still could not get in, he started trying to knock the door in, but hadn’t realised he was hitting Mr Bunn’s door instead of his own.
She said Mr Bunn had allowed Edwards to sleep in his flat as Edwards, who did not really remember the incident, had woken up in Mr Bunn’s flat.
Ms Mathias said Edwards had cut down his drinking following the incidents.
Edwards was fined £120 and will pay costs totalling £105.
