AN OCTOGENARIAN accused of causing a crash that resulted in the death of an Aberystwyth dad-of-three is to appear in crown court.

Margaret Jean Christopher, 81, is charged with causing the death of David England by dangerous driving following a crash on the A4159 at Lovesgrove on Thursday, 19 March, last year.

She has also been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving to Mr England’s daughter Rhian, who was a passenger in his car at the time.

Christopher, who answered the charge by videolink from Preston Crown Court, has not entered a plea to the charge of causing death by dangerous driving as it must be heard in crown court.

She has entered a not guilty plea to the charge of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and magistrates agreed to send that charge for trial to crown court also.

Christopher, of 20A Hoole Lane, Banks, Lancashire, was released on unconditional bail until a hearing at Swansea Crown Court on 5 February.
