The death of a Newcastle Emlyn man killed in a landslide during Storm Callum is being probed by police.
Corey Sharpling, 21, died in the landslide on the A484 near Cwmduad, on 13 October 2018 as torrential rain hit the area.
Police said at the time that Mr Sharpling was killed as ‘officers were dealing with’ reports a tree had fallen on to the road when a ‘large scale landslide occurred, which tragically resulted in Corey losing his life at the scene’.
Mr Sharpling was understood to have been travelling by bus to his job at McDonalds in Carmarthen at the time.
Joy Jones, of the health and safety executive, told a pre-inquest review last week that Dyfed-Powys Police were interviewing witnesses.
She said concerns had been raised over work taking place in the area before the slip and a report by the HSE has been sent to the force.
Ms Jones told the hearing civil engineering experts were worried work taking place in the area at the time may have contributed to the landslide.
The inquest into the death has been adjourned until the end of April while the police investigation is carried out.
After the hearing Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed they were working with HSE in investigating Mr Sharpling’s death.
“No arrests have been made,” said a spokesperson.
“Inquiries are ongoing and as such it is not appropriate to comment further at this time.”
