A Tregaron man caught driving at 50mph on a 20mph stretch of road near Aberystwyth has escaped a driving ban after magistrates heard losing his licence could mean losing his job.

Lee Adams, of Y Llew Coch, appeared before Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on 18 August.

The court heard that the 34-year-old was clocked by police laser driving at 50mph a Ssangyong Korando in the 20mph zone on Antaron Avenue in Southgate on 8 January this year.

Magistrates handed Adams a fine of £590 and endorsed his driving record with six penalty points but did not disqualify him from driving under the totting procedure because a ban would have an “exceptional hardship impact”.

Adams must also pay court costs of £120.
