A DRUNK woman who appealed to friends to let her into their home feels isolated since a move to Pontrhydfendigaid, magistrates have heard.
Frances Pauline Jones, of 7 Heol y Bannau, admitted being found in drunk in a public place on 18 May in Lampeter after the police were called when she started banging on the window of a flat in North Road in the town.
Rhian Jones, prosecuting, said police were called by the occupant of the flat who said Jones, 52, was outside banging on the window and asking to be let in, but was also being abusive.
While he told police that Jones was a friend he said he didn’t want to let her into the flat as she was drunk, but Jones had said she needed the occupants to “be her friend” and threatened to harm herself.
When police arrived they initially couldn’t find Jones, but when they did officers noticed she was drunk.
While they were speaking to her Jones told the officers to “go away” and asked them what they would do. However, when they arrested her Jones apologised for her behaviour.
Defence solicitor Alison Mathias said Jones had been battling an issue with alcohol as well as other problems.
She said Jones had been a long-term resident in the Aberystwyth area but had recently moved to Pontrhydfendigaid and felt slightly “isolated”.
Ms Mathias said: “She is apologetic and as you heard she did apologise to the police at the time.”
Jones had spent a considerable amount of time in custody following her arrest and Ms Mathias said Jones had been out of trouble for around two years, so asked magistrates to consider a conditional discharge.
Magistrates sentenced Jones to a six-month conditional discharge. She will also pay costs totalling £105.
