A CURIOUS otter made a surprise and rare appearance at Pont Croesor this week.
The otter was spotted fishing the Glaslyn off Porthmadog Cob on Friday, 4 March.
A volunteer for Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn Wildlife said: “The otter spent over three hours fishing the Glaslyn off Porthmadog Cob.
“It often came to within a few feet of several lucky observers who braved the snow and the wind out on the embankment.
“Although otters are a resident on the Glaslyn, due to their secretive and nocturnal habits they are rarely seen during the daytime.
“To see one as close as this and for such a prolonged period was a rare privilege indeed.
“With luck we may get some more daylight sightings like this from Pont Croesor this summer.”
