A CEREDIGION councillor is planning a fundraising cycle ride between Bronglais Hospital and Morriston Hospital in Swansea to “give something back” for the cardiac treatment he received.

Llanbadarn Fawr councillor Paul James had open heart surgery in early 2017 and has praised the care he received at both Bronglais Hospital and Morriston Hospital.

His gratitude to the hospitals and their staff had led Cllr James to vow that he would raise funds for the two cardiac units and is hoping for the backing of other patients who have received care at the two units, and their friends and families.

Cllr James is now arranging a fundraising cycle ride on 25 and 26 May next year, setting off from Bronglais to Morriston, before returning, a distance of around 140 miles, and he is inviting interested riders and sponsors to get involved, as well as launching a fundraising page with a target of raising £10,000.

He said: “My intention is to do a sponsored cycle ride along with friends and supporters to raise money for these two exceptional units.

“I already have a number of pledges for help and sponsorship, but I am still looking for more sponsors to support and help organise along with other riders to come along and support the cause, especially if you had a friend or a family member who has received the same fantastic care as I and many others have."

As part of the fundraising effort, Cllr James has launched a Just Giving page to help reach his £10,000 target. Anyone who would like to donate can do so at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/paul-james-949
