YSTWYTH Cycling Club is holding a charity evening on Friday to raise money for local emergency services which treated riders injured in a horror crash in August.

The event is to be held after 10 cyclists were injured following a serious crash on the B4340 on Sunday, 14 August, at the annual Angela Davies Memorial Road Race, organised by Ystwyth CC.

Two of the cyclists — one of whom suffered a head injury, and another who suffered a pelvic injury — had to be airlifted to Morriston Hospital by separate air ambulances.

And after the club held a 113-mile sponsored ride from Aberystwyth to Welshpool last month, raising £1,700 for the Wales Air Ambulance, the club will host a charity social evening, including a live band and auction, at Aberystwyth Football Club on Friday.

Gareth Lewis, Ystwyth CC treasurer and race organiser, told the Cambrian News: “The aim of the charity social and the recent charity ride is to acknowledge the fast response of the Air Ambulance and local emergency services during a club road race held in August this year."
