A team of 15 cyclists from the Dyfi Valley have raised £10,000 and counting for a national prostate cancer charity by embarking on a 53-mile ride from Machynlleth to Llanrwst.
The cyclists – who call themselves Bols yn Beicio – cycled from Machynlleth all the way to the site of the National Eisteddfod in Llanrwst on Thursday, 8 August.
The idea to do so was that of team member Colin Harding, who was inspired by Geraint Thomas’ Tour de France success last year and the call of Eisteddfod organisers urging people to cycle to the festival.
Bols yn Beicio have so far generated over £3,000 on their JustGiving page and £6,500 through sponsorship forms, as well as collecting various donations along the way.
The money will go to Prostate Cymru, a charity which aims to raise awareness of prostate cancer and diseases.
