AN Aberdyfi dad is preparing to take on the London Marathon to raise money for a charity that means a great deal to him.
On Sunday, 24 April, dad-of-two, Dan Witchell, will be among thousands facing the challenge of running the London Marathon.
Accountant, Dan, 33, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes eight years ago and he will be taking part in the London Marathon to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
“JDRF is a Type 1 diabetes charity that does some fantastic work,” explained Dan.
“The aim of the charity is to find a cure.”
“Obviously this charity means a lot to me. In 2008, when I was 25, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
“I was very shocked and didn’t know anything about diabetes, let alone the difference between Type 1 and Type 2.
“My wife Gretta and my two boys - Finlay, 5, and Charlie 3 - will be in London with me to cheer me on and greet me at the finish line! They have been very supportive during my training as obviously it takes a lot of time to get all those miles in!
“JDRF is a very worthy charity and if anyone would like to donate please go to my Virgin giving page at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DanielWitchell.”
