A BLAENAU Ffestiniog pensioner has taken part in two zip wire challenges to raise over £800 for his local adult hospice.
Showing his support and thanks to St David’s Hospice, Glyn Crampton, took part in two zip wire challenges in the same day at Zipworld Titan raising over £880 in sponsorship.
The fundraiser saw the 80-year-old enjoy the views over Blaenau Ffestiniog on Zipworld Titan which was then followed by a ride on Velocity, the fastest zip line in the world and the longest in Europe based in Bethesda.
Glyn said: “My wife Phyllis was well cared for at the Hospice on two occasions, the first Christmas 2011 and then summer 2012. Sadly my lovely wife passed away in November 2012.
“In January this year I turned 80 and my wish was to do both the zip lines on the same day in memory of my wife.
“I was supported by my family and between us collected £884.13 for the Hospice as a thank you for the brilliant care and support my wife and us as a family received.
“I would also like to thank everyone who supported us and donated money for the hospice.”
Hospice fundraising manager, Wendy Clark said: “It is a fantastic achievement. He has shown amazing bravery doing not only one, but two zip wires. Thank you Glyn!
“It costs over £2 million to deliver our clinical services at St David’s Hospice. Over 84% of our income is generated through fundraising such as Glyn’s challenge and what is great, all the money donated stays local and helps local people.”
