A PENRHYNDEUDRAETH woman has spoken of the nightmare of trying to help her mother when she was taken ill almost 5,000 miles away.

When Nikita Jones’ mother, who lives in India, was diagnosed with TB in August, it was, naturally, a very worrying time.

With treatment, Sushil’s condition seemed to be improving, but in September, Nikita heard the terrifying news that her mother’s condition had taken a turn for the worse.

Desperate to help, Nikita, an only child, managed to get an emergency visa to visit her mum.

She also set up a fundraising page to raise money for treatment.

Speaking to the Cambrian News, Nikita said: “I had to get an emergency visa to India to get to her. I am the only child and the only immediate family she has here.”

Explaining the frightening situation more on her gofundme page, Nikita said: “My name is Nikita Jones, some of you might know me as Niki.

“My mum was diagnosed with tuberculosis in August.

“She was diagnosed and the treatment started almost immediately.

“They believed she was on the mend until on 29 September my cousins found her passed out in her own wee.

“Upon being rushed to the hospital and having had some emergency scans, she was diagnosed with having disseminated tuberculosis, which means that the infection has spread to her brain and this is now a life threatening condition.

“She has been unconscious for the last 48 hours.

“She has been moved to the ICU where I am told the bill is about £1,000 per day.

“Whilst I can cover some of the expenses, I am unlikely to find the finances to cover her entire treatment.

“If anyone can spare even the smallest amount to help me out, I will be extremely grateful.”

Nikita added: “Maa is only 56 years old.

“I am terrified that I will lose her if she doesn’t get good medical care.

“If you are unable to donate, I would greatly appreciate if you can share the fund raiser on your social media channels.

“Help me save my Maa. I am not ready to lose her yet.”

Nikita’s fundraising page has been inundated with donations and £6,286 of her £10,000 goal has been raised.

Although her condition is slowly starting to improve, Nikita is still trying to raise more money to pay for her mum’s treatment.

Dwyfor Meirionnydd MP Liz Saville Roberts shared the link to Nikita’s fundraising page on social media.
