Madam,
In response to M Gibbins’ letter, I would like to point out that Catholics in Aberystwyth already have a central, historic church, albeit one which they are barred from entering.
Further the Menevia trustees have wasted £120,000, if not a lot more, on trying to persuade parishioners and the world alike that the church is falling down and yet forbid an independent survey.
Surely responsible Catholics and citizens alike will question the rationality and spendthrift attitude of a distant Swansea-based diocese? This, in particular, when this debt will irresponsibly be passed on to the next generation.
It is never easy to speak truth to power, however it is our duty to do so. History will be our judge.
Yours etc,
Lucy Huws, Trinity Road, Aberystwyth.
